Explore nature with a pencil and a brush of colour in this beginner level watercolour class that explores outdoor ecosystems and local habitats with a sketch artist and a naturalist. Enhance your powers of nature observation in this 8-week class that introduces you to watercolour materials, colour theory, techniques and composition that will improve creativity while exploring the outdoors.
The Advanced Nature Sketch program will build on the skills learned in the Junior Nature Sketch program but also introduce the students to more formal art training, expanding their skills in sighting, shading, texture and basic watercolour techniques.
In this program we will be working both from nature as well as from reference photos to take students’ learning to a higher level. The cost of the program includes 7 weeks of instructional outings guided by a naturalist, sketching instruction, a special Nature Sketch book, and all sketching materials. Watercolour supplies are extra – you can view the materials list here.
The program also includes a final exhibition on week 8 where students’ sketches will be framed and hung on display at a local venue. Appropriate for ages 8+ for students who have been through our Junior Nature Sketch Program and want to develop their skills further and ages 13-18 for those who have not been through the program.
8 week program, 2.5 hrs per week.
