Toronto Artist and Naturalist Bios
Spring 2019 Toronto Instructor:
Jessica Krecklo Naidu – Jessica is a self-taught artist. She loves exploring nature and has been an avid sketcher since childhood, so she is thrilled to be facilitating the Toronto Nature Sketch session this spring. Jessica has degrees in both geography and urban planning. She brings her fascination with nature, local environments and ‘sense of place’ to her art. Jessica also has a small business creating custom portraits of people and homes. Jessica lives in the east end of Toronto with her husband and two young sons.
Spring 2019 Toronto Naturalists:
Dr. Judy Brown – Dr. Brown, a native of Toronto, is a 2003 graduate of the Ontario Veterinary College. Following graduation she completed a one-year small animal medicine and surgery internship at Animal Medical Centre in New York City. Dr. Brown practices in Toronto and provides emergency and critical care treatment to small mammals. She also draws on her spare time.
Lauren Moretto – Lauren is passionate about bats and wetlands! She was involved with starting up the Urban Bat Project in High Park, and has completed a Masters of Biology about bats and their habitat in Toronto. Lauren currently works for the Ministry of Natural Resources mapping and protecting wetlands.
Sally Girdler – Sally Girdler has always had a keen interest in the natural world and plant identification. She has worked at the University of Guelph’s Arboretum, Vancouver Island University’s Greenhouse and for the city of Toronto as a horticultural technician. She is passionate about environmental education and advocacy.
